We do require a standard credit check to sign up to electricity, however, a credit check is not required to join Grey Power Electricity if you have a valid Grey Power membership number.
If you don’t have a Grey Power membership yet, a credit check will apply where you must have a valid New Zealand drivers’ license or a valid passport, this could be a New Zealand or an international passport.
If you wish to sign up and use your passport for your credit check, please note we will request to have you send through a copy of your passport to our customer care team.

We don’t have a prompt payment discount as we have already built this into our prices. On the Grey Power Plan, we simply offer you a great price upfront, without any fear of losing the discount if you miss a payment. We simply charge $1.15 per day for each day you are late.
Our Customer Care Team can help you if you miss a payment. Choosing to pay by Direct Debit is the best way to avoid this situation — and you will receive a lower price if you do! You can set up a Direct Debit online here.
